  1. It was tried before. And the government found out they couldn't stop the use of it. It is just like marijuana. The government has realized it can't stop the use of it. But I think it is to arrogant to decriminalize it.

  2. Look up prohibition, it's pretty basic.

  3. Been there, tried that.  It was a horrific disaster.  Google "prohibition."

There is no good argument for it.  "A man's damnation is his own business."  Thomas Jefferson.

PS, I find it very funny that Yahoo's spell check doesn't contain the word "Google"!  LOL

  4. It's been tried before.

    It didn't work.

  5. They did, at a point in history, ban alcohol. This wasn't a good idea. Alcohol is apart of many peoples cultures and is a very celebrated drink around the world. Banning it is like oppressing someones culture. When they banned alcohol, people became violent and it was chaos. It didn't stop people from breaking the law, in fact, they loved to break the law. People drank alcohol in secret, and gang members were seen as heroes. When the ban on alcohol was lifted, but regulated, order was restored.

On the contrary, alcohol is a harmful drug. It causes reaction and the mind to slow. Many people have died due to drunk driving and drivers. There are surgeons who have been caught operating on people drunk. Some people view alcoholic drinks as a danger to society.

  6. it can't be done

  7. Hmmm...not too sure actually. Both sides have a lot of points to go for. I mean just look at the underage sales that keep happening and drunk driving. Not to mention the serious effects that it has on ones health. But on the other hand it's a big industry that makes lots of money. I'm not sure but i think that the government gets taxes from the sales of alcohol. It couldn't be outlawed completely because some religions use it in their practices, like catholics drink wine at Mass. Hope i helped a bit, Good luck on your debate.

  8. prohibition of alcohol was a bad idea, in fact it looked just like the prohibition of drugs today.

I creates a black market and a reason for violent crime to exist. Want to see people quit killing each other over stupid stuff like territory. Take away the drug trade and watch crime decrease, just as prohibition with alcohol.

    Ron Paul 08

  9. It was such a spectacular failure the last time, why would we want to try it again?
