Novices start with no belt or white belt.

They graduate to yellow, followed by orange.

i hate my new schools orange belt ranking >.> they have a stripe through the middle, its the holloween belt <(-.-)> luckily however the school is certified by the national organization so student can get a black belt and dan number (yes that magical number that is all their for the rest of their lives)
