Thaworn Wiratchant finishes second at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship
Thaworn Wiratchant displayed a sensible performance in the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship, as he finished tied for the second position after posting an overall score of an eight-under par 208.
Two weeks ago, the Thai star recorded the 14th Asian Tour victory of his career at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters. He also became the only player in the history of the tour to reach that mark.
This week, he was regarded as the hottest player in the field because of his form on the tour.
Right from the start of the tournament on Thursday, he remained in contention for the top spot, as he was only one stroke behind the leader Gaganjeet Bhullar, entering the final round.
As the inclement weather hardened the playing conditions at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club, most of the players in the field struggled in the final round.
Wiratchant, in the meantime, managed to remain calm and composed. He finished the round with an even-par 72.
Kim started his final round with a par putt on the opening hole and followed it by conceding a bogey on the second.
He then tried to offset it with a birdie on the very next hole that he played. However, a bogey on the fourth hole once again took him to over par score for the round.
A couple of birdies on the ninth and the tenth hole allowed him to make a slight comeback in the tournament.
However, Bhullar proved to be too good for him, as he stretched the lead to four strokes, at the end of the weather-shortened tournament.
Regaining his momentum, the Asian Tour star avoided making many careless mistakes throughout the round and recorded another strong finish of his career this year.
According to the 45-year-old, he played well on the final day from the tee to the green. However, he was unlucky to miss some of the birdie chances that he created during the round.
At the end of the tournament, he looked pleased with his overall performance. Moreover, he praised the way Bhullar played during the tournament and he did not allow anyone in the field to get close to him on the leaderboard.
