The 2010 F1 Season Is Tough and Unpredictable

The F1 2010 has been tough so far. With every race the statistics are changing, teams are moving up and down the charts so randomly and after each race the Drivers’ points standings keep altering unpredictably.

Looking at the teams’ and drivers’ statistics closely, it is believed that this year the race for the title is going to be close.

The pattern in which the races have unfolded so far appears to support this argument. Five different race winners have won the last eight races, with three of the drivers, Jenson Button, Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton having tasted victory twice this year. To add to the drama is the fact that the current points of all the race winners are separated by nineteen points.

Two of the recent championship leaders Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton think that so far there is no fixed direction in which the results are moving. Rather a new direction is taken after each Grand Prix, it is hard to follow any trend this season, they added.

Before McLaren driver, Hamilton bagged the Turkish and Canadian Grand Prix, the Red Bull's dominance was quite clear. Webber having won the Spanish and Monaco Grand Prix and his team mate, Sebastien Vettel leading the Malaysian Grand Prix earlier this season.

However, with the current standing of McLaren, their driver, Hamilton thinks that the fight for the title is going to be really tight. Hamilton after the Canadian Grand Prix told the press that this season had been the ultimate challenge he had ever experienced in Formula One. He added that it is probably the ultimate challenge in the Formula One history.

The Australian driver, Webber, predicts that the fight between the current top five champion drivers is going to stay and grow tougher as the season unfolds. Moreover, he added that this would grow to be a crucial head-to-head season for the top drivers as all of them would move forward with the upcoming Grand Prix.

Webber, while talking to Germany's Auto Motor and Sport said that things moved in a different pattern last year as Jenson Button was able to bag a number of victories right at the beginning, but he added that this is not what usually happens on the circuit.

He said that usually until mid-season arrives the competition keeps growing between three to five drivers but as the Championship reaches towards its tail, the number shrinks.

Now, it is predicted that after a few more races, the competition would narrow down to between three drivers only. Near the end when only a few more races would be left the head to head duel would be between only two drivers.

Webber also predicted that it is most probable that the champion will be known even before the last race begins. The 33-year-old also suggested that the way the results of the last two races have turned out, especially at the Montreal race, McLaren would now be the pacesetter for the following races.

Red Bull had already predicted after Turkey, that the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve would not suit the RB6, however they were able to race better than many expected.

Now, before the European Grand Prix, they have announced that Valencia is another track on which they might not be able to do very good. However, they were surprised at the way they took the best out of their RB6 in Canada and proved more competitive than they thought.

The action will unfold soon and probably the results would better determine the next Champion. So keep your fingers crossed till the show is staged in Valencia.
