The 2010 HSBC Championship: Soldiers ready to battle

The 2010 WGC-HSBC Championship is scheduled to start in Shanghai, China on the 4th of November and is defintely the 'hot topic' among the stars. The ex- top cat of golf, Tiger Woods, hasn’t played since the Ryder Cup. The great golf legend, Phil
Mickelson, even decided to not play in Grand Slam Bermuda in order to rest for the HSBC Championship. Looking at all the stars, how can one forget the one who’s shining the brightest? That’s correct. Lee Westwood, the new World Number one, is ready to compete
and is feeling on top of the world, literally that is.
The Shanghai people better beware, the Tiger is back on the prowl and he’s hungry for some ‘number one’ treats. The king of the swingers, Tiger Woods, will surely try to regain his title as he plays on the Sheshan Golf Club this weekend.  Lee Westwood replaced
Tiger Woods as world number one on Monday and it really topped Tiger’s downfall that started with the unveiling of the American’s infidelity.  Tiger, who didn’t have such a great year, is hoping to end his season on a good note.
"I've got three more events this year and, hopefully, I can end on a good note," he said on his website. I’m really looking forward to these events and, hopefully, they will spearhead into a better 2011,” said Woods.
This event is surely one Tiger remembers, since it was right after the HSBC Champions in 2009 that Wood’s car crashed outside his Florida home. This car crash led his scandalous extramarital affairs with various women to be revealed to the public including
his wife and children. Ever since then, things have gotten bad for Woods. In August, he posted his worst score of the year when he finished 78th out of 80 at the Bridgestone Invitational.
It was also in August, that woods got divorced to his wife Elin Nordegren as well. Things started appearing better when Woods gave a decent performance in the Ryder Cup last month. Woods said that the way he played in the singles is how he knows he can play
golf. He likes where his game is headed now and hopefully it goes satisfactory in China as well.
The championship will surely be exciting with the new world number one and two competing against the reigning Champion Phil Mickelson. Along with Lefty, the US Open Winner Graeme McDowell, Paul Casey, Luke Donald, PGA Champion Martin Kaymer and Rory McIlroy
will be playing as well.
Are all the players really competing for the $7 Million dollar purse of the event? The answer could be a Yes or No. Some, like Kaymer or Woods, might just be hoping to be number one. If they all outshine Westwood in China, the European would have to say
an early goodbye to his newly earned honour.
Westwood is the first European since Nick Faldo in 1994 to be crowned World Number one. Lee said that it’s an exciting time for golf. Looking at how much he worked for it, Westwood won’t let his spot go that easily.
Out of the star-studded field prepared for this year, any in the top-tier are capable of winning the Championship. One player who is especially excited is Ernie Else. Last year, Els finished one stroke behind Mickelson.According to Els, it's a big thing
for the World of golf and for it's fans.
The WGC-HSBC Champions is the last of the four World Golf Championship events held this year. It is known also known as Asia’s Major since it’s such a prestigious event taking place in Shanghai. Of course, it has to be a special event with eight out of the
top ten players of the world competing. Just as a year comes to end, all the champions would want to end their 2010 on a happy note. With just two days to go before the stars tee off, the HSBC Championship will surely be one to follow.
