The 2010 Ladbrokes.com title winner Mcguigan could not make his way to the semi finals this year
The quarter final of the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby gave a big shock to many trainers. On the 27th of August, 2011, in Heat 2, every result was sending a jolt of electricity for the trainers as well as for the owners.
The three-year-old Tyrur Mcguigan, was very unlucky throughout the race. His performance not only kept trainer Fahy in astonishment, but he also lost the chance of entering into the semifinals.
Owner Mr. P.J.Fahy’s black dog was last year's Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby’s title holder. With his outstanding performance, he gave an amazing hit and won the purses for trainer and owner, Fahy.
Lately on the 20th of August 2011, in the same venue Shelbourne Park where the quarter final took place on Saturday night, the Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby Round 3 Heat 3 was scheduled, in which the famous Irish hound performed so well
that he made his way to the quarter finals.
Son of Brett Lee out of Tyrur Temptress, Tyrur Mcguigan ran remarkably in the last week’s Round 3 Heat 3 held on Saturday, he stared his run from trap 5 with a swift and terrific chase. The black dog remained at the leading position until he reached the
finish line.
By winning the purse of €250 he made himself enter into the quarter finals which did not work out in his favour.
This unfortunate event led him to the eliminations and the chance of winning the title of Ladbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby 2011 this year.
Last year from the heats including the quarter finals, semi finals till the finals the young champ finished first consecutively.
This year, the trainer and his uncountable fans were expecting the same outstanding performance by him, but their favourite greyhound was not lucky enough this year.
The 2010 Landbrokes.com Irish Greyhound Derby’s 120000 € purse winner begin his chase with a swift start.
Gradually Fahy’s Irish champion was baulked while reaching the wire by D Ruth’s three-year-old Kingo who finished fourth in the race.
Tyrur Mcguigan finished last in the race against five contenders.
He was 7 lengths behind the two-year-old Ohio Rumble, and reached the line in 30 minutes and 91 seconds.
The 550 yard open race was won by the O’Connell’s Croom Star, by covering the distance in 29 minutes and 99 seconds. Linehan’s Droopy Twirl finished second, and Whelan Piercestown Sand came third.
