The 2011 Coral Champion Stakes Final on Wednesday 7th September
The Coral Champion Stakes Final will be held on 7th September, 2011. It is a very prestigious race for greyhounds which has been taking place since quite some time now. These are the category one races and thus they are very important, leading
the winner to benefit immensely.
The stakes are always held at the Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium, winner of the British Greyhound Racing Board’s ‘Racecourse of the Year’ for 1998 and 2003.
It is famous for its lively and energetic environment, and with a capacity of 4,300, it is an amazing platform for the display of greyhound talent.
The stadium comes with great facilitation for the spectators, including comfortable amenities, restaurants and catering facilities as well.
The Champion Stakes Final will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports and eventually it will be a set of 12 mesmerising races in the finals.
The greyhounds for the finals would qualify after the heats on this Friday, 26th August, and then the Coral Champion Stakes' semi-finals on Friday, 2nd September.
This Friday, there will be six heats and from each heat, three dogs will qualify for the semi-finals.
They will need to race the distance of 575m at the Romford Stadium with the winner’s prize being £150 and thus a total prize money of £1,800.
In the next Friday’s semi-finals, the first two hounds across the line, the winner and the runner-up from these races will get to the Coral Champion Stakes' Finals at the same stadium and for the same distance but now for an increased prize money. The winner’s
prize being £175 and the total prize ending up at £1,275.
The qualified finalists will compete for a winner’s prize of £10,000 and the total prize of £20,000. It will of course be at the same stadium and for the same distance as before.
It is no doubt a very important and awaited race.
It would only bring out the best dogs out for the final show after getting qualified through the heats and then the semi-finals. The event will add titles against the names of the winners and would also set new records for greyhound racing.
