The 2011 Kia X Games Asia all set to make a return to China - X Games Update
The 13th edition of the Kia X Games Asia is all set to return to Shanghai, China, for the fifth consecutive time, from 29
April to 2 May.
The biggest action sports event in Asia will be featuring some of the world’s most exciting athletes battling it out in an electrifying atmosphere, delivering the adrenaline pumping action that everyone has learnt to associate with the X Games over the years.
The athletes have been given a motivation to even push themselves ever harder as the prize money this year has been increased.
While talking to the media about the upcoming mega-event, Senior vice president of programming and Global X Games, Scott Guglielmino, said, “ESPN is thrilled to have X Games Asia back in Shanghai for a fifth consecutive year. As the X Games continues to
grow, we look forward to bringing outstanding athletes and competition to the region and continuing our commitment to present world-class action sports competitions around the globe.”
The mini-MegaRamp will be returning this year after making a successful debut last year. The competition will also be featuring Aggressive Inline, skateboarding, BMX Freestyle and the Moto X Freestyle demonstrations. The mega event will also be highlighted
by a recently designed street course.
Over 200 of the most exciting action sports athletes from over 30 countries are flying in to Shanghai to participate in the competition. The list of confirmed athletes competing in the event includes the seven-time Skateboard gold medallists Bob Burnquist
and Pierre-Luc Gagnon and the eight-time gold medallist Andy Macdonald. The two-time X Games Big Air gold medallist Jake Brown will also be packing his bags for a trip to China.
The BMX line-up promises a thrilling competition as some of the top athletes battle it out for the top spot. This line-up includes the X Games gold medallist Chad Kagy as well as the X Games Asia BMX champion, Dennis Enarson and the Mini-MegaRamp’s champion,
Vince Byron, both of whom will be determined to defend their titles.
The Yasutoko brother Eito and Takeshi will be returning back to assert their dominance in the aggressive in-line vert and defend their title.
In order to further make the experience of attendees memorable, KXG will also be featuring the X-Fest. This will offer the visitors a chance to interact with their favourite athletes as well as take prize giveaways. Exciting entertainers and music performers
will be giving live performances to make the atmosphere electrifying and keep the environment very festive.
Last year’s KXG was attended by a record 58,400 spectators over the course of four days. This year, the action sports event plans to be just as successful, if not more.
