The 2011 Sitting Team of the Year award goes to US women’s team – Volleyball news
This is the time of the year when most of the athletes and teams get recognition of their hard work during the regular season.
In this regard, the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team lately received acknowledgment from the governing authority of volleyball in USA, the USAV. On account of their stellar performance, the USAV named women’s team as the Sitting Team of the Year.
The US ladies displayed great effort in the international events and also proved their endeavours at domestic level. The American women rounded off the 2011 season with an overwhelming 18-1 record, which helped them earn the biggest honour of the season.
Head Coach, Bill Hamiter is the man behind the success of team. He gave a winning plan to his team in every match they played and backed them up in the crucial times. He simply did an incredible job of leading team to wonderful 18 victories. Team members,
Kendra Lancaster, Heather, Erickson, Kaleo Kanahele, and team captain Holloway equally deserve the praise.
Hamiter expressed much delight about USAV’s decision of considering his team suitable for the honour. Moreover, he appreciated the dedicated effort and team-work of players.
He said, “We had a very successful year from a number of standpoints. One being that we won a lot; but two and the most important being that we were able to get the younger players great experience.”
Undoubtedly, the team has worked out great performance under the visionary leadership of Hamiter in the recent years. They secured Olympic berth in 2010 season after finishing second at the Sitting Volleyball World Championship in Edmond, Oklahoma. With
Olympic tickets already in hand, the team played to its full potential in 2011 and fought with pride. That was what truly enabled the team to beat the tough teams of the world.
US team travelled to Sao Paulo, Brazil, in order to take part in the 2011 Parapan American
Zonal Tournament. They crossed their ways with all-time rival Brazilian team and defeated them on their home soil.
The American team remained undefeated in the tournament and clawed its way to the gold-medal. The gold medal win in Brazil was the real highlight of US Team. Likewise, the team performed wonderfully during the campaigns in the China and Denver, earlier in
the year.
All in all, the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball team totally deserved the honoured of being named the top sitting team in America.
