The 2012 World Matchplay begins July 21st, the bets are on again!
The last three months have been truly entertaining as far as the game of darts is concerned. It has been a thriller.
The McCoy’s Premier League gave an excellent level of athleticism and magic, with its diverse player participation and shocking results.
The world saw Simon Whitlock coming strong and bold out of the bottom and dominating the entire roster with his intense and aggressive approach towards the play, He stood out as the most impressive player of the entire league.
The first shocker came when Adrian Lewis defeated the mighty Phil Taylor in one of the biggest upsets of the entire League. It was hard to digest as “The Power” seemed invincible prior to his defeat.
The World was finding it hard to believe that Taylor was dominated by his own disciple, as Lewis was defeated at the hands of “The Wizard”.
Whitlock threw Lewis out of the Premier League, causing havoc all over the world of darts. It was indeed surprising to witness an under-dog beating the lights out of “The Jackpot”.
Phil Taylor had to prove that he is the 15-times World Champion for a reason. He made sure that he was still the best in the world and defeated Simon Whitlock in the final of the Premier League and claimed his global dominance as the best darts player the
world has ever seen.
The McCoy’s Premier League was over and players from all over the world were eyeing the UK Open.
Ted Hankey made his debut at the prestigious tournament in the hopes to return to the world of darts. His dream was crushed as he faced an early exit at the hands of Mervyn King.
The focus was on the finale of the UK Open, as legendary Phil Taylor faced an in-experienced Robert Thornton.
It was assumed that this would be an easy bet. Nobody could have come close to the might of Taylor, as he has dominated legends for the past one decade. Thornton, however, had other things in mind.
He came with a bulk of passion and aggressiveness and took over the might of Phil Taylor and won the UK Open. It was unbelievable as nobody has been able to do that for a very long time now.
Now, the World Match play awaits another fierce tournament of darts, as players prepare for darts magic to begin July 21st.
Who will stand out, who will fall, only time will speak of it. One thing remains intact, it would definitely be entertaining.
