the 30-lb block B is supported by the 55-lb block A and is attached to a core to which a 50-lb horizontal force is applied. neglecting friction, determine (a) the acceleration of block A, (b) the acceleration of block B relative to A ?

  1. Without a diagram or a better written explanation of the system it is difficult to see exactly what you are describing.  I can think of several possibilities based on what you have written.

    Besides that -- this is more of a Physics problem than an engineering problem and there are probably 12:1 physics 'experts' in that category versus engineers, who will 'jump' on this question.
