The 5 to 2 joint favourite, Ballymac Throne took charge and won the Hall Green Bags It Runners Up Stakes at Hall Green
On 2nd January at Hall Green, the Grade A1 Hall Green Bags It Runners Up Stakes had two 5 to 2 joint favourites entered by C Kyme and Pat Sallis. The race was over a distance of 480 metres and offered the prize money of £245.
The son of Ballymac Maeve out of Poma Bocka, Ballymac Thorn, did not take very long to get done with the race and made it to the other end of the wire in 29.74 seconds. Setting this benchmark time that got him the £245 prize money.
Next in line was P Wellon trained, Dainty Billy, who covered the 480 metre distance in 29.78 seconds. Despite the fact that he paced up slowly and was at a disadvantage of ½ of a length, he did secure a respectable second place finish for himself.
The other 5 to 2 joint favourite of the race was, Greycott Gwen, who did not show pace upfront, but gradually picked up the tempo. Pat Sallis’s trainee shot through the wire with just a neck’s difference, clocking the distance in 29.80 seconds.
Five lengths adrift was, Poirot, trained by S Buckland. He did not speed up instantly rather when he had his chances going for the second position in the race, he found himself crowded. Settling for the fourth position, Poirot, raced through the track
in 30.20 seconds.
C Kyme’s entry, Tictac Chili, was also the victim of getting crowded near the line thus, finished sixth. Poirot had led ahead of Tictac Chili by ½ a length which was quite a narrow margin. It took Tictac Chili 30.24 seconds to get done with the race.
The hound who completed the order of finish was G Ballentine’s entry, Westview Poppy, who also suffered through the melee that found him crowded towards the final stages of the race. He managed finishing the track distance in 30.34 seconds.
Even though both C Kyme and P Sallis entered joint favorites, the event proved out to be luckier for C Kyme whose hound claimed the race as compared to the third position holder, Pat Sallis trained, Greycott Gwen.
