  1.   It has to N & S Dakota, since the Carolinas were never territories.

  2. I read Eggleston's History of the United States this summer, and it wa in fact the Carolinas that were one state, I suppose that they simply ran out of origionality when it came to the Dakotas.

  3. i would say the carolinas...mostly becuase there both border states during the slavery thing. and the dakotas were unsettled for a long time since it was mostly indian territory.

  4. I think it's the carolinas

  5. No, actually, you have to divide the second two fractions, not multiply them, and you wind up with an answer of 3. Otherwise you're all set, though.

  6. I am a bit confused by the question but West Virginia and Virginia separated because of the Civil War,  W Va is North of Va  if that helps.

  7. Are you sure they don't mean one state is northern (union) and one state is southern ( confederate)???

Does it say it has to be the four states you mentioned?

    Like Tennessee and Kentucky???

    I'm thinking Missouri and Arkansas.

Both were territorial acquisitions during the Louisiana Purchase.

    That's my final answer, Regis!

I can't believe someone would "thumbs down" a  geography teacher!

  8. i think it was dakota. i think there was just a dakota before north and south dakota.

  9. Both.

In the very early colonial age they were called the "Province of Carolina".  They eventually divided into South Carolina and North Carolina in 1729.

In the Louisiana Purchase, the territory was simply called "Dakota Territory".  It wasn't until the Enabling Act of 1889 they became North Dakota and South Dakota.

  10. North and South Dakota I Live in South Dakota       gope it helps bro!

  11. The Dakota Territory was divided into North and South, both of which became states on Nov. 2, 1889. South Dakota is the 40th state, covering 75,898 square miles. The capital is Pierre.

  12. Well, the Carolina colony was divided into colonies of North and South Carolina. However, this was long before the Revolution occurred so they were not a US territory. The Dakota Territory was divided into North and South Dakota before becoming the states of North and South Dakota.

  13. North and South Dakota!  (North Carolina and South Carolina were never territories, but formed part of the original 13 states/colonies)
