The 5Star Burn River Jump right around the corner
The fans of action sports are in for a treat as the 5Star Burn River Jump approaches Livigno, Italy. It will kick off from the 22nd of February and after delivering the thrilling action of winter sports over a course of four days, come to an end on the 25th.
The event will feature some of the best snowboarders in the world competing for the titles in slopestyle and big air formats. Main attraction for the riders in the event is the prize purse of $50,000 and an opportunity to clinch 850 Swatch TTR Tour World
Ranking points.
The upcoming event is comprised of two disciplines, slopestyle and big air. The slopestyle competition will commence first at the Mottolino Swatch Snowpark in Livigno. The course offers two creative jib features and four big kickers. The format of the final
will be that the riders will make three runs, with the best one getting counted for final judgement. The top ten snowboarders in this contest will be awarded qualification to the big air contest.
The Burn River Jump big air contest will feature twenty riders, ten from the earlier mentioned slopstyle contest, whereas the latter including the invited riders as well as the wild card entries. These competitors will be going head-to-head with the best
out of two runs system narrowing the line up down to the last six. These six riders will the go head-to-head in the super finals with two runs each.
A few of the really prominent riders participating in the upcoming 5Star event includes Sweden’s Christian Haller, Eric Willett from USA, Norwegian Stale Sandbech and the young-gun from Britain, Jamie Nicholls.
Haller is currently placed at No.5 in the Swatch TTR World Tour Rankings. He recently met success at the 6Star O’Neil Evolution, earning his first ever 6Star title. He will be soaring with confidence due to the recent achievement and eager to further improve
his ranking by triumphing in the slopestyle contest in the upcoming 5Star event. However, he will have to remain on his guard as his competition will be a fierce one, with the likes of Eric Willett, World No.24, and Stale Sandbech, World No.14, also aiming
to take home the prize and points as well. The up-and-coming Jamie Nicholls will also be looking to improve his Working Ranking of 47 by grabbing the win.
Burn River Jump is one of the last two-5Star events remaining in the current Swatch TTR Tour. The riders will be extremely determined to clinch the invaluable points on offer in order to improve their rankings. Time for climbing up the ranking table is running
out for the riders as the Swatch TTR Tour is moving closer to the final event of the season, the 6Star Burton US Open, scheduled in March. That is where the men and women Champions will be crowned.
