The AFL is the game in good shape ?

Back in the the day's when the tough men of footy played, the game was tough and had biffo , it was the norm and expected, remember 1980's Ess- Haw grand final brawl ! Today the AFL has sanitized the rules and the game to such an extent, there a more "Ladies " Leagues these days than ever before. It simply means more people with ' hand bags' are playing the game now , at a time when Geelong coincedently wins its first flag in 44 years. Geelong won the Grand Final by a record margin without one FIST barely raised in anger, at a time these days where the "Pretty Boy " runners, now hit the showers after games, with their designer Shampoo!

Sit there for a few hours and actually watch a game from 20 years ago! it is SLOOOOW.

You are just looking back through rose tinted glasses. The grounds sucked, the facilities sucked.

Today we have the best game, fast, clean and really entertaining. Can't believe anyone would want to go back to those days.

If you want  a slow game with biffo, poorly run, played by unfit thugs why not just watch Rugby league.

For some time now I have mentioned this point. I have noticed and I am sure a lot of other supporters noticed that the game is changing......to some what a softer and gentle game. The rules are constantely changing and its pisses me off to see this.

The AFL and the rules committee are too worried about what the mothers of future players are thinking. What about the fans, the teams and the coaches? don't we get a say?

I'm not sure if its the fault of the AFL or society, when a player is more concerned about messing up his hairstyle, than laying a few dirty punches in a pre-half time meley..

Even the Collingwood vs Geelong game a few weeks ago didnt produce a single hard knock, scuffle or fist fight..and that was one highly charged game...!!

but to say the game itself is soft is a joke. Just because guys arent throwing punches doesnt mean they are soft, AFL is still a tough physical game, and if you dont go in hard, you will get hurt.

Your point is why Rugby League is far superior than AFL.

AFL's not tough, NRL is.

You can watch the NRL from now on.  You will be all the better for it.

the only 2 faults in afl is collingwood and umpires.

collingwood obviously because i got for carlton

nd umpires because there not consistent and they make some stupid decisions that embaresses themself!

1stly geelogn are up themselves and will be down the bottom of the ladder where they rightfully belong next year and thus the afl game is in disripute with the hand sin the back rule etc. Nrtball and basketball have mroe contact then afl it is just become unwatchable every game there has to be atleast 10 bad decisions over this hands in the back rule. why cant you, the afl through it out the window and let footy be as it was int eh good old days a game for men not for divers and pretty boys playing for their looks and not the game

the bloody hands in the back rule is ridiculous and some of the umpires just favour sides like last week geelong played collingwood we (geelong) would of won by a lot more if they got some free kicks!!!!!!

anyway geelong won the grand final!!!

i don't follow it as much as i used to because its to soft, you only have to sneeze and the umps will pay a free against you
