The Advantages of American English.?

I have a Debate. The topic is British and American English.

I need some help about the advantage of American English and the disadvantages of British English.

One advantage for American English is that more people use it, and is now widely taught in Europe over British English. For example, I know two people studying English in Italy. Both were taught to spell 'color' instead of 'colour', etc. They were also taught to spell 'curb' instead of 'kerb'. In France, another friend of mine was taught to always use the indefinite or definite articles, as in "I'm studying at THE university . . ." rather than "I'm studying AT university . . ."

I think a lot of Brits would disagree with me, but this has been my experience.

Well this is a good topic. All i can say is that american english has about 300 adopted languages that make it up.

Advantage: It is one of the most widely known language spoken in the world other than spanish, japanese and chinese

Disadvantage: it can be somewhat confusing, some of the word usage doesn't make sense....its tricky.
