The American medal table?

The American media ranked the countries based on the number of gold medals in the previous Olympic Games. Why do the American media only start to rank the countries based on the number of total medals in this 2008 olympic Games?

  1. Because 2000 people will blog an hour if they don't until they do :-)

  2. Dr Illegal,

Your countrymen must be embarrassed by your moronic response lol...very lame attempt by the US media....and idiots like you try to defend it. All wrapped up in your own hype as usual huh! Do you think that it has only been changed for this olympics because someone in the US decided before they started that the previous ranking criteria suddenly seems unfair??

  3. American likes to give credit to silver and bronze and all around athletes.

one country has 100 gold and no othe medals

other country has 99 gold and 100 silver and bronze,

saying that the one with 100 gold is the clear winner is pathetic.

I would not believe nay jealous pathetic foreigner if they tell you how or what the U.S. thinks like the first jackass that answered this question, he's probably just pissed the U.S. beat his country.

Plus, if you actually watch U.S. news, they mention total gold and overall count. It's not like ti matter to you anyway.

  4. The only reason america does it this way to try and stay top of the table. And with the shear number of athletes they have in the olympics, it will probably stay like that.

It is the IOC that makes the rules about the medal table, not america.
