ok will back a couple of months ago me and my geography teacher had a fight when i labled the united states of America on a map as America and not the U.S.A as he wanted us 2 he presisted that everyone on this side of the world were Americans cause they live in south and north america i said thats not right becuse if you live in the United States of America u call your self an American and if some one asked me were i lived i would say America not the United States of America. well that whent on for a while and then he said that that Canadians and Mexicans were Americans 2. which i counterd by saying.

If your from Mexico what do u call yourself ~Mexican

if your from Canada what do u call yourself ~Canada

and if you are from the united states of america what do you call your self ~Americans

well then he wrote me up for "disterbing" the class

You're getting BS answers.

Yes, people in all of the Americas are Americans.

But when speaking of your NATION, you're an AMERICAN.

People want to take that away from you out of jealousy.

Be an AMERICAN, and be from AMERICA, proudly.

It's okay to feel a connections with other Americans from North and South America,

But your COUNTRY is AMERICA!

Tell your parents and your principal about your teacher.  He's teaching his agenda instead of facts.  Please tell someone.  And good for you for taking him on.

He was correct, both in insisting that everyone on two continents is an American and in correcting you.  By the way, it is spelled "disturb."

Read the map. There is North America, South America, and Central America. We don't have the exclusive right to claim to be Americans. Your teacher is right. And by the way some Canadians and Mexicans do refer to themselves as Americans in some contexts.  

For example, in sports we have the Pan American Games. They are for all Americans not just citizens of the USA.

In diplomacy with have the Organization of American States. It is for all American countries.
