The Ancient Celtics knock out the Bucks 105-102
Last night as the Boston Celtics came face to face with the Milwaukee Bucks no one knew what the end result would be. Lucky the Celtics won the match on their home ground, TD Gardens, Boston.
The match was a very memorable for Paul Pierce and will be for years to come. The star scored reached a career 20,000 points and in doing so stole the show for his team. This was indeed a result of the potential he had in him from the beginning of his career.
Not only did he do this but he also added a key steal to his points to win the hearts of his team members and help them win.
Now Pierce is also one of the members of Hall of Famers besides John Holvicek and Larry Bird, who spent their entire career playing for the Celtics to win the title. He was unstoppable even after getting the lead and even after that he threw five more to
steal the show.
"That was an emotional moment for me. It was tough for me to swallow at that point", an emotional Paul Pierce said. "You don't see that often that a player accomplishes the feat with one team. Five years ago, I would never have imagined I would score 20,000
points in a Celtics jersey. I was a disgruntled player".
The match was highlighted by Ray Allen as he scored 23 points for the proud Celtics (4-1). Rajon Rondo also stood tall with 17 points and 13 assists and Kevin Garnett also showed his best in scoring 13 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
Andrew Bogut was the hero at the Bucks end, who managed to score 21 points (1-4), Ersan Ilyasova and Carlos Delfino both scored 15 points for their team. Brandon Jennings scored 13 points making it to the top three in his team.
Though the Bucks had a slow start, they still showed signs of hope as Jennings said, "Hopefully this is a test for us and see how we need to play every night," He also added, "We did a lot of good things tonight. Somebody's got to lose".
That’s true because one of the teams has to lose.
The Celtics were leading the match with 6 points with one minute twenty seconds left in regulation. The Bucks tried harder and the game was tied when Delfino made a point with only 10.5 seconds remaining.
The time passed by and both the teams kept dribbling the ball around the box. Boston was lucky enough to get an edge over the Bucks again when Allen missed the ball and Jermaine O’ Neal tipped in to get it. At that time there was one minute and forty-nine
seconds left to play.
The game gained more momentum 30 seconds later when Paul Pierce was successful in nailing the two free throws they were blessed with after the Bucks made a foul.
Poor Bucks could not take advantage of the foul made by Bogut at the end of the Celtics. He missed the free throw and in doing so lost the two points they could have otherwise gained.
Pierce fully energetic and with firm determination hit two free throws for the Celtics. At that point he was left with only 13.3 seconds to cover the 20,000 point mark. He gave a finishing touch by adding some four more in the very last 10.3 seconds.
Rondo was capable of accomplishing only one assist in the opening eighteen and a half minutes.
Thanks to Jennings, who made 90-89 possible for the Bucks, and kept the fans hopeful. Allen was able to hit only one free throw and that cleared the road for Delfino. The game was set on an OT after Rondo missed a jumper and the time expired.
The game was tied at 47. The third quarter was also show time for both the teams as they were in total defense of their totals.
The Bucks showed took revenge in the third quarter by scoring six points in the beginning. But then again the Celtics took intent and Garnett and O’ Neal made consecutive baskets to steal the show again. The rest of the quarter was quite the same for both
the teams after that as they both could not score more than four points.
The final 12 minutes were lucky for the Bucks as they led by 63-62.
Overall the match was dominated by Paul Pierce, who made it to the Hall of Famers finally.
