  1. Thinking on your feet is very much about remaining calm under pressure, or perceived stress, as registered by your ego.  Realizing "who" is registering the pressure is a key to the appropriate strategy.

I was involved with law, in one aspect or another, for many years, and finally, subjectively, found that MY best plan was to be involved with practices that allowed me to be calm no matter what the triggers.  The ego always wants to be right, and be a "winner", so part of the plan is to understand what "it" is, how it operates, and how to keep it calm.  This finally morphed into understanding the "flight or fight" response in humans, etc.

When stressed out the mind functions poorly --the adrenalin, etc.  All the info is "in there" but you need to be calm enough to access it helpfully.  So, all the practices which calm down the sympathetic nervous system, "permanently" were my path.

That means, believe it or not, regular exercise, especially cardio, meditation, yoga, chi kung, etc.  These yield permanent changes.  After diligence in the area, you'll be pleasantly surprised at just how, essentially, nothing phases you, and you just take all in stride --the brain does what's needed, and your

performance is competent and appropriate.  You'll be amazed at the difference.  But, you must be diligent and disciplined.  Good luck  :))
