The Art of the Aftermarket: Lexus F (Part 1)
“The Lexus F emblem represents the high-performance racing division of Lexus cars. The marque refers to the Fuji Speedway in Japan, where Lexus tests all of their performance vehicles. The first Lexus to bear the F logo was the
Lexus IS F, which was unveiled next to the prototype of a newer, fiercer F model, the LFA. A related line of performance vehicles, Lexus F-Sport, has also been launched, although they do not offer the same performance and style as the F-series.”
That’s all that you need to read. You have finally saved up enough money to buy the car you’ve wanted since you were a child: a Lexus high performance sports car. Looking back at the wide range of Lexus vehicles available, you
can’t quite decide which one you want.
You take a trip down to your local Lexus showroom and take a look at the models that they have to offer. Lexus’s signature silver metallic paint job adorns every single car in the room. Ever single car in the room is “IDEAL,” which
is Lexus’s backronym for “Impressive, Dynamic, Elegant, Advanced, and Lasting.”
In the far left corner of the room, you’ll find the big brawny Lexus LX. As you read the information posted on its window, you’ll notice that it is an enormous car. A full size sport utility vehicle with a 5.7 liter V8 engine,
it’s not really what you’re looking for in your first auto racing car. In fact, when you step back from the car, it looks a little odd.
Moving on to the next car on the right, you notice that it’s slightly smaller than the LX. The Lexus GX has a smaller engine than the LX, with a 4.7 L V8, but since it weighs over 2,400 kg and is an SUV, it’s not at all suitable
as a racing car.
The third SUV in the lineup is the Lexus RX. Even though it is dwarfed by the LX and GX, it’s still an SUV. You’re not planning on doing much off-roading, so none of these are really good options for what you are looking for.
You move onto the midsized sedans, but they all seem like luxury family cars. However, one does stand out and catch your eye. The tag reads “Lexus IS350.” It looks amazing; sporting a sleek body and large rims, menacing in its
presence. You open the hood and take a look at the engine. A 3.5 L V6 stares right back at you. You sit in the car and immediately feel at home. The soft leather, cushions your body while a wide range of gadgets and k***s that you are just itching to touch
adorn the suede dashboard.
A sales representative comes up to you and asks if they can help you. You tell him that you are looking for a stylish sports car. He tells you "Sir, you're in the wrong section." He leads you to an adjoining room, featuring three
of the most beautiful Lexus’ that you have ever seen. On the left is the Lexus IS350C. It looks the same as the IS350 sedan, except that it is a coupe. But the salesman directs your attention to the car in the center, on a raised pedestal.
Your jaw drops as you look at the Lexus LFA. This is exactly the type of car you have been looking for. A two seat exotic coupe glares down at you angrily, and this is the only car in the entire showroom that is any color besides
silver, being in a metallic blue. You point this out to the salesman who says that there are 28 standard paint jobs, and an option to order your own custom exterior color. He adds that there are also three standard rim colors, along with a matte black option.
