The Asians ready to shine at the Maybank Malaysian Open – Golf News
The Asian golf stars, Thongchai Jaidee, Jeev Milkha Singh and Liang Wen-chong, are all set to stun their opponents at the Maybank Malaysian Open, scheduled from April 12 to 15, 2012.
Thailand’s Thongchai is confident make a good run this year. He believes that he has ample experience at the venue, which can help him in registering another victory in the tournament.
He has one of the best track records in the tournament, as he won the title in 2004 and successfully defended it in 2005. Apart from that, he also stood second in the 2006 edition.
Therefore, he is one of the hot favourites to win the title this year because of his recent form on the Asian Tour.
“I’ve always enjoyed playing in Malaysia. Malaysia feels like a second home to me and I always receive a warm welcome here. It is one of my favourite tournaments,” said Thongchai, a 13-time Asian Tour winner.
In the same way, Singh is also aiming another victory on the Asian Tour through Malaysia Open. He has already registered a total of six victories on the tour that helped him taking the number one spot in 2006 and 2008.
“I do feel I have many more years left and I’m going to do much better (than 2006 and 2008 where he won four times each year). I have a lot of golf left in me. I’ve felt the best in the last four years,” said Singh, who turns 40 in December.
“That’s why I’m making the statement that I’m looking forward to my years ahead. I feel I can play till the age of 50”.
There are a total of 40 Asian Tour champions getting assembled at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club to participate in the Asian and European Tour sanctioned event.
Apart from that, five major champions, including Martin Kaymer, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Michael Campbell and Todd Hamilton will also be featured in the tournament.
