The Associated Services for International Adoption?

Have you ever heard of this organization: "Associated Services for International Adoption," a.k.a. ASIA?

My sister and I were both adopted from South Korea. We're planning a trip next spring to visit the "motherland," if you will. ^^ Anyway, my dad came across that really neat organization for adopted people called "Associated Services for International Adoption." From what I heard, the organization sets up a trip for the adopted kids to visit their birthplace. They provide accommodations (place to stay and food to eat) as well as the opportunities to visit the orphanage your were adopted from (if that's your case). This sounds real promising! Maybe I can meet my biological parents, which has happened to others who have taken part in this organization.

  1. I haven't heard of this organization in particular but I know there are places that arrange "birth country" tours for international adoptees.

Just research it carefully to ensure that it is legitimate.

    Good luck!

  2. I tend NOT to trust adoption agencies. They usually don't have the adoptees "best interests" at heart. An excellent Korean Adoptee blog that I trust is KADNexus. His blog has TONS of links to Korean adoptee groups. I know that KAN is one that is good. ASK is another. Here is his link and you can check out everything he has: http://kadnexus.wordpress.com

Good luck! I hope you enjoy your country, your people and your trip. I am hawaiian, and going to meet my mother for the first time in Hawaii was the greatest trip of my entire life. Being on the Island with my people, there is nothing like it. I finally felt at "home."

    Good luck!
