The Atlanta Hawks offered Josh Smith + Speedy Claxton (bad long contract of oft injury player) for Odom?

Should the Lakers take it

Smith is younger, more aggressive, more tough, better talent that odom..good creator off the dribble, aggresive rebounder, elite defender...but can't shoot a jumpshot to save his life

should the lakers get him and another bad contract player with a long injury history for odom

Josh Smith is still a free agent I thought.

And even IF they signed him they can't trade him for a certain amounr of time.

And the Hawks would be just plain stupid to offer someone they've been pursuing all summer for their future and then trade him for a less talented player.

But I must ask, where's your source?

Wonder why Josh would take 3.1 million when the Hawks are willing to offer 10 million.

I know he'd have a better chance of winning but 7 million is quite a bit, along with the fact he'd have long time security as a Hawk and they'll win eventually with Joe, him, Horford, and Bibby. All they need is a good center and they could be title contenders.

don't see it happening. Lakers got no cash to keep a player like Smith around. they say he's looking 4 the 60 mil range from the Hawks alone.

Lamar Odom is more talented than Josh Smith. I don't know where you got that Smith is more talented than Odom from. Odom is a 6-11 guy who plays like a PG but in the body of a PF.

Besides, Gasol is our PF. We aren't going into the season with either Smith or Gasol as backups.

aww man!, i wanted to ask this question i should have gotten up earlier, I'm glad this rumor was finaly comfirmed a few days ago they said a western conference power had offered a sign and trade for smith personally if the lakers don't go for this deal i think they're stupid. But i think your wrong buddy the lakers don't have an option of taking the deal, it's the other way around the lakers offered and the hawks would have to respond to it i really really hope it goes down.

Speedy Claxton was an OKAY PG for Golden State back a few years ago, but he sucks now. Josh Smith is much younger and more talented than Lamar, but isn't the key the Lakers need.

Why would the Hawks lose Smith, probably the whole defense of there team, and get Odom who will just leave next summer anyway.

Also The Hawks have not oferred J-Smoove and Ckaxton, they reportley ae really not talking to anyone about Smith.

And the Lakes are offering him a really low money, the Hawks are offering him 10 mill and he still wont take it.

To answer your q, Smith on the lakers would be really good for the Lakers, your right he is not good at jumpshots, but he is young so improves. Cant really say about Claxton since he gets injured soooo much.

I doubt it will happen, but it's a good deal fo rthe Lakers.  Josh Smith can play SG, PF, or SF he is a versatile player.  So you could have Bynum, Gasol, and Josh on the front or kobe can even play SF and put josh as the sG.  Plus he is young and the Lakers are realatively a young group right now.  It would keep them competitive in the long run.

I have never seen Josh Smith play sg he only plays sf and pf he had to move up one position but his natural position is sf
