The Australian PGA Championship 2010 live leader board
The Australian PGA Championship, which has been sponsored by Coca-Cola, has kicked off on the Hyatt Regency Coolum Golf Course with prize money of $1,500,000 out of which $270,000 will go to the winner.
Half of the field has taken their turn on the 18 greens. Currently, Andrew Buckle and Bobby Gates are at the top with a score of 8-under-par. The Australian (Andrew Buckle) teed off from the front and picked up a birdie on the first hole. He sandwiched another
between two bogeys on second and fourth. To counter off the early blow, the veteran smashed three successive birdies on the next holes and wrapped the first half with a score of three-under.
The birdie fiesta did not stop here.  Buckle set the back nine on fire by smashing four consecutive birdies on the first four holes. He picked up one more on the par-4 17th and capped the day with a score of 64.
He was followed by an American, who made an identical score and surged up to take a share in the lead. The veteran performed relevantly better than the Aussie did. Gates decided to start from the front and drove the tee shot all the way to the first fairway.
The crowd roared at the magnificent delivery. Just then, Gates grounded an iron on the second fairway. The ball plunged in the green and rolled right into the hole. The commentator announced that the veteran had earned two points by smashing an eagle.
With a gap of three holes, Gates picked up one more birdie, and wrapped the first-nine holes with two more birdies. On his way to the outward holes, he drew two more birdies on the opening holes, but dropped a shot at the 14th hole. The American
did not let the bogey spoil his scorecard and drafted two more birdies at the 17th and 18th. He matched the score made by the early leader and walked towards the clubhouse with a big smile on his face.
This is it for the live updates of ‘The Australian PGA Championship’, which is in progress at the Hyatt Regency Coolum Golf Course, Australia. For further details, keep visiting Bettor.com.
