The Australian PGA Championship - Round 2
The Australian PGA Championship commenced with its second round at the Hyatt Regency Coolum today and observed Andrew Martin destroying his first round drudgery, with Heath Reed performing as consistent as his round 1 at 73.
For Martin, day two at Coolum had been highly annoying since he was able to grab only one birdie as compared to 3 from the first round of the event. The PGA Championship will be ending on the 12th of December 2010 and is being
held at the Sunshine cost with $270,000.00 first place gratuity.
As far as the leader board is concerned, the front cult experienced the twenty six year old’s presence at the first round when he carded a minus 4. Round 1 ended with a 71 after the golfer from Peninsula collected 3 birdies, 11
pars and 2 bogeys. The former Australian amateur champion however, reached one notch up in his confidence when he played an amazing eagle at the third hole of the Coolum.
Things changed a bit at the second round for the Neangar Park member where, unfortunately, he couldn’t collect as many birdies as he did from his initial round. Martin collected a total score of 74 with a 2 over consisting of one
double-bogey at the 18th hole, thus tying for the 51st place.
Martin’s fellow Bendigo, Heath Reed, also managed to follow the twenty six year old intently for a one under. His birdies at the 5th and 6th hole at the GC kept him alongside Martin for a brief moment in the championship but the
bogeys at the 9th, 11th and then the 17th hole subdued his chances of keeping up with other competition.
The overall weather conditions had been highly fruitful and from the list of those who made good use of it, Bobby Gates from America topped the index with his overall minus 11. Gates has till now, carded one 64 and then a 69 for
the number one spot.
At second place Liang Wenchong stands with a 68 while John Senden shares the runner up spot with a 68 at the second round.
