The Australian PGA Championship: Round 4
The Australian PGA Championship ended today with Peter Senior becoming the oldest golfer to win the PGA title.
The 51-year-old golfer played a play-off match against the Australian Open champion Geoff Ogilvy and managed to succeed at the second hole of the GC. Senior carded a decent 71 at the start of the tournament and achieved maximum
number of pars at the last round of the tournament.
According to Senior’s score card, the Australian golfer didn’t card any eagle throughout the match but managed to collect 2 birdies in the last round and a total of 15 pars. As of what was left, the golfer was hit by only one bogey
at the last round of the tournament.
Senior climbed to the top of the leader board after carding his lowest score at the second round of the event with a 67 while the highest was recorded at the last round. With a total of 276 strokes played, the 51-year-old carded
a score of 70 at the first round of the event and a 68 at the third round of the Championship.
As far as Geoff Ogilvy is concerned, before the play-off, the golfer stood head to head with Senior and carded the same number of strokes as the 51 year old did. With 276 shots, Ogilvy played the best round he could and carded
a 66 in the last round with a minus 6 on the leader board.
As compared to Senior’s minus 1, Ogilvy displayed his amazing form at the round 4 and carded 6 birdies including only a single bogey.
Before the 33 year old caught up with the GC and grabbed a 66, Ogilvy played a 71 at the second last round as the highest score and carded a 70 at the first round of the championship. Ogilvy also played brilliantly at the third
round of the match and carded a 67 showing consistency in the in-between rounds.
Standing one stroke behind the play-off leaders, Nick O’Hern, Peter Fowler and Andre Stolz stood at the T3 position and carded 69 and 71s at the last round of the tournament. O’Hern and Fowler grabbed the third place at the PGA
Championship after missing a long birdie putt to finish as equals. But no matter what happened down the scoreboard, Senior experienced one of the saccharine wins ever and bagged the championship after a long 20 year stint.
