The Australian PGA Championship Top 5 - Round 2
The Australian PGA Championship commenced with its second round today at the Hyatt Regency Coolum and saw Bobby Gates standing at the top of the leader board with 133 strokes in total.
The championship started from a 64 by the American golfer to add up to the already carded 69 from the first round. The subsequent score of round 2 thus placed the twenty four year old at the top of the leader board.
According to the statistics, Gates managed to display amazing form at the PGA Championship this spell and carded an impressive 64 with an 8 under. The first round of the tournament was an extraordinary collection of 7 birdies,
one eagle and only 1 bogey by the twenty four year old. The remarkable eagle was carded early in the game at hole number one while the birdies were collected throughout the back and front nine of the GC.
As for the second round, bobby gathered the 69 after 5 birdies, 1 eagle and 4 bogeys.
Gates is thus a stroke above the runner-up position and is being chased by Liang Wenchong who has played a total of 134 strokes for the runner-up position. The golfer from China is currently standing alongside John Senden, who
was the winner of the Australian Open in 2006.
The leading position had been a share between Gates and Liang earlier in the event in the first round till the Chinese golfer failed to collect more than 4 birdies.
As for Senden, he managed to play the lowest round of the tournament with a 65. The score card witnessed the presence of 7 birdies, 4 of which were attributed to the first five holes at the Hyatt Regency Coolum.
The fourth place is currently held by Aaron Townsend after carding a 67 on his score card. Townsend stands with Matthew Griffin at T4 and has played a 134 with Griffin still to make it through the 18 holes. The score of 67 at the
second round was collected after 6 birdies while the first round was one shot up with a 68.
The Australian PGA Championship will be ending on the 12th of December, 2010 and is being held at the Sunshine cost with a golfing field aiming for the $270,000.00 first place gratuity.
