Question:

The BNP and discrimination?

The BNP (British National Party), are a far right political party in the UK,very similar to the KKK and other far right parties in Europe. However they are a perfectly legal political party , sanctioned by the UK parliament. The UK government states that they are a disgraceful racist political group, but they cannot be banned as they are not a terrorist organization and they do not condone violence, against any group. They have a few democratically elected councilors in local government. Now if you are a member of this party (which is perfectly legal), you cannot join the UK Police force or any other government organization. This is not law but a policy by the police and others. Do you think that this is discrimination on the grounds of political affiliation

  1. Yes.  And I despise the BNP.

But people have the right to hold any political view they want.  It is one of the joys of living in a democracy.  BNP members should not be discriminated against.

It should be either you can be a member of a political party or not in the police, or other organistations, rather than singling out the BNP for discrimination.
