  1. Are u talking about The Beach starring Leonardo Di Caprio?? I've seen the movie but i haven't read the book..

  2. Read the book, ignore the film. I saw the film before I read the book, at first I thought it was an ok film, nothing special, but after reading the book I was shocked; if I was Alex Garland I'd have been spitting fire in my rage. It's as if the film makers took the book, used it for toilet paper for a bit and then made a film out of what was left, making up the bits that they had flushed away.

  3. book though i think leo dicaprio catches the main character pretty well

  4. BOOK!

Read it 2 years ago, absolutely wonderful. If you watch the film first, you'll be VERY disappointed. It's just a cut down, squashed version of the story with changes to the characters.

    Book all the way!

p.s Avoid watching the film - I did it and now I can't re-read the book in the same way  :(

  5. Book is pretty good, movie misses the point and is just plain bad.

  6. the film is brilliant but to get a better understanding of the film the book would be the best option because they tend to leave large chunks out when making the films anyway. a great read!  enjoy

  7. Book, first. I read it far before I saw the movie and, as usual, the book is better than the movie.

  8. The book is fantastic. The film didn't really do it justice.
