The Beginning of Agricultural Societies?

In what regions of the world were the first Agricultural societies?

We have only written reccords to give definitive positive answers. There may have been agriculture before writing allowed it to be recorded.

One of the problems in this appears to depend on what we call agriculture. Do we include carrying fruits about and planting trees to grow more?

We should, however treat the issue as a science that begins and ends in words. We have enough real questions that matter today.
