Does anyone know what the best kind of kitty litter is? Prefferably, one that hides the smell the best?

  1. We have two cats in a 1000 sq.ft. apartment. Two uncovered litter boxes in a closet, and a covered one in a corner in the kitchen.

Currently, we're using Tidy Cats Scoop: Small Spaces for one uncovered and the covered boxes. The third box is actually the Tidy Cats Breeze System. And we have never had a problem with odor. One of our cats tends to be especially stinky, but when we started using Tidy Cats, don't smell a thing anymore.

Here's a link for more info on the Small Spaces litter: http://www.tidycats.com/GetPage.aspx?Con...

You can also find info on the Breeze System on that site as well.

    Hope that helps. ^_^

  2. I'm currently using Fresh Step and even when I'm in the same room as the litter box, I cannot smell anything. So far, it's proving to be quality odor control. :)

  3. as long as you clean it any of it, i also but baking soda in it to keep it smelling good

  4. I don't use clumping or clay litters. The litter tracks all over the place, it sticks to the pan and makes changing the litter a real chore and they do little to remove the smell of cat urine. I used "flushable" litter years ago and ended up having it back up the pipes and poopy water and litter came up through my tub - nasty!

Wood stove pellets are the absolute best litter to use. Not only do they totally remove the urine odor but they absorb the moisture, the pan dumps out dry and the best part? You can buy a 40 pound bag for about FOUR TO FIVE DOLLARS! It's the same compressed pine sawdust pellets as Feline Pine so anyone using that stop wasting your money! Nothing really kills p**p odor plus I don't want my cats to end up with poopy paws so I scoop any poops out daily. With four cats and three litter boxes I dump the pans out after about a week or so. Since the litter's so cheap I don't mind changing it often.

You can find them at Home Depot, Lowes and another homestores and most grocery stores like the Safeway, Fred Meyer and Albertsons stores here in the Northwest US. Feed stores also sell them as farmers/horse owners use them in horse stalls as well.

  5. Fresh Step

I have 6 cats and it is the best.

  6. I prefer to use the Arm & Hammer brand for multiple cats....but you do have to clean it out often regardless.

Edit: Hey...F YOU whoever doesn't like my kitty litter!
