The Best Ranking Goalkeepers In The World – Part 3
Article Continued from Part 2.
3. Gianluigi Buffon
No list of the world’s best goal-keepers is complete without mentioning Gianluigi Buffon.
The 32-year-old Italian began his youth career with Parma in 1991, and spent four years with the club before moving making it to the Parma senior squad in 1995.
After six seasons and 168 appearances under his belt, Buffon moved to Juventus in 2001, and continues to represent the Turin club. He has made 274 appearances for Juventus, and is still an active player and a living legend in the squad.
Buffon is a player who has always maintained his form and performed with consistency. He is considered by most as one of the best goal keepers in the history of the sport. He was also declared by Pele as one of the greatest 125 footballers to have ever graced
their presence in the beautiful game.
He has won multiple Serie A titles and the World Cup playing for the Italian national team. He started with the national squad from the under-21 level in 1995; two years and eleven caps later he forced his way into the senior squad.
He has represented his country an amazing 102 times and has been named the Serie A goal keeper of the year eight times.
Age has however taken its toll on this gifted player of late and his form has been affected, he is currently on the bench because of an injury.
But this Italian star has declared that he will make a comeback in January. He is regarded by most fans, football pundits and players as one of the most talented and successful goal keepers of his generation. He is a definite show stopper, and even though
it seems unlikely, the veteran is on the transfer list this time.
As with other legends who seem to move to other clubs in the latter phase of their career in order to gain new experience and spread their influence further.
Gianluigi Buffon also made the record books, when he only let in two goals in the 2006 World Cup and kept five clean sheets. Plus he holds the record of most minutes without letting in any goals – a whopping four hundred and fifty three minutes.
Buffon let in just two goals in the World Cup, and one of those strikes was a penalty taken by Zinedine Zidane in the final against France. The other was when a fellow team-mate put one in the back of his own goal against the United States.
Buffon fully deserves his spot in the football hall of fame, and his name will go down in the history books as an all-time Juventus legend.

2. Julio Cesar
Julio Cesar is the 31-year-old Brazilian who currently plays for Internazionale. He started his professional career with the Flamengos in 1998 and spent six years with them making 136 appearances.
In 2005 he made a move to Italian club Chievo, but the Serie A imposed a quota system which limited the number of non-EU players playing in the team. However six months after being registered to the club, he was transferred without making a single appearance
for the club.
