The Best Wingers In The World – Part 1
The last two winners of FIFA Player of the Year Award are Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Both of them are wingers and this speaks highly of wingers today.
It is a strenuous task to single out the best eleven wingers in the world but here is a list that would do at least some justice.
These players are not ranked but just listed here. So, here it is starting with the great Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo:
This twenty five year old Portuguese playmaker plays as a winger or a forward and is believed by most to be the best player in the world. He actually called himself the best, the second best and the third best footballer in the world.
He is also the highest paid footballer as he gets paid eleven million pounds a year and still holds the record for the most expensive transfer to date as it was a move made from Manchester United to Real Madrid for a whopping eighty million pounds.
Ronaldo started in 1993 with the Andorinha youth academy and then moved to the biggest academy in Portugal, Sporting CP and later quickly made the move to their first team.
In 2003, when the player was only eighteen years old, he caught the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson and was thus signed to the Red devils for 12.24 million pounds.
He has also seen a lot of international play as he had been a part of Portugal's under seventeen team since 2001 and then made his first squad national debut in 2003.
This player has netted around an average of thirty two goals per season, which is an amazing number even for him as he plays as a winger and not a striker.
This season came with only a decent start for the star player but still Cristiano Ronaldo keeps showcasing why he is the best in the world.
Franck Ribéry:
Franck Ribéry is a twenty seven year old French player who is currently part of the German giants, Bayern Munich. Ribéry plays as a winger. He started his youth career in 1989 with Counti Boulogne. Then, after a few moves he made his first time big leagues
debut with Boulogne in 2000.
He played for two years at Boulogne and made twenty six appearances while scoring six goals, then moving through numerous clubs to make his move to Bayern Munich in 2007. Ribéry currently has seventy five appearances with them and has netted twenty four
goals.
He is also a part of French national team, starting with the under twenty one squad in 2004 and then made the move to the first team in 2006. He has forty eight appearances so far with the French national team and has scored seven goals in his international
duty.
Franck is a player who has represented his country in two FIFA World Cups, scoring his first international goal in 2006 World Cup against Spain and he was also a part of Euro 2008.
The player is considered to be a top class winger and one of the best in the world of football. With Arjen Robben on the other wing, they make one of the most feared teams in Europe.
Ribéry is known for his monumental and epic assists and he contributes a lot to the game. He has vision and speed, so this makes him a dangerous winger.
