Many are saying Djokovic but that isn't really a good answer because Djokovic is young and will be atleast number 2 at some point probably not to far away. The best player never to be ranked number 2 for me is Nalbandian for me or Dementieva. All the best players have reached number 2 at some point in their careers. The top players who haven't are still young and should not be considered for these kind of questions.

Jelena Jankovic, but I believe that she will soon be world #2, we'll see.

And also Elena Dementieva. Even though after this year's RG she'll be ranked #5, it's still a long way for her to be #2. She's a good player but her career high is only #4 :(

For the men it's Nalbandian and probably Djokovic.

My vote is for Sergi Bruguera.  3 French Open finals, 2 titles.  And he was one of the very few players to hold a winning record against Sampras.  Unfortunately he never went higher than #3 in the world.

Djokovic, Jankovic. There are bunch of youngsters but I am sure they'll find their way to the top. :)))
