The Betfred Eclipse – Heat 1 with the potential to take down Taylors Sky
The £150 prize money of the first heat of the Betfred Eclipse has brought together Taylors Sky, Droopys Hayden, Holdem Spy, Trewmount Snap, Bridge Honcho and Sawpit Sensation. The 500 metres flat race will be hosted by Nottingham on Friday, 16th November.
Presence of Charlie Lister trained, Taylors Sky, almost always does rule out the other options in the field, but tonight the competitors who have got together for the challenge are such that they are completely compatible with the 2011 Derby champion.
The star of the line-up has drawn the first trap, while the very last one has been allotted to, Sawpit Sensation. The sixth and third trap, Sawpit Sensation and Holdem Spy, are leading the game right now.
The C. Weatherall trained, Holdem Spy, scored second and then won the most recent trip over 500 metres. Hondo Black’s son, Holdem Spy, finished next to the best in the Grade OR Betfred Eclipse Trial Stakes on 29th October, 2012 at Nottingham.
Getting baulked when racing in the first position set the fourth trap into the second slot as he missed the spot by 4 ¼ lengths.
The favourite entry, Ballymac Eske, clocked the track distance in 29.21 seconds after breaking out of the second gate.
The two-year-old finished impressively in the Betfred Eclipse Trial Stakes on 5th November, 2012 at Nottingham over 500 metres. He raced in the orange of the fifth trap, and led on from the second spot. Switching from the middle to the wide end saw the favourite entry concluding the race in 29.54 seconds.
Settling as the runner-up after missing the race by 3 ¾ lengths was, Newmarket Flyway.
On the other end, Head Bound’s son, Sawpit Sensation, won not over 500 metres but 485 when racing in the most recent trip.
The two-year-old favourite entry was dominant in the Fast Arkle Standard Div A on 11th November, 2012 at Coventry. He had broken from the same trap that he has drawn for tonight.
Taking a slow start, but saving ground on the wide end had him making it to the other end of the wire in 29.37 seconds.
