  1. maybe your using an outdated source.

the big bang theory suggests that about 13.72 billion years ago all matter was compressed into a single point. in fact it wasnt matter then, it was energy.

extensions to the big bang theory would indeed suggest that 20 billion years ago matter did not exist. but the big bang theory itself says nothing but what i stated above.

  2. None of the above is correct - we can't see further than 13.7 billion years in the past. We don't know if matter did or did not exist earlier than the Big Bang, but we do know that in the first nanosecond of the universe, matter was not existing.

  3. The answer is  (e). Try 13.7 Billion, and you won't be far off.

  4. None of the above. The "Big Bang theory" suggests that about 14 billion years ago all matter and energy was compressed into a singularity but it says nothing at all about anything before that.

    b) and e) are the closest but the theory doesn't actually say either of them is correct. I guess that if the singularity was stable before the big bang then b) would be correct whereas if the singularity came into being (how) just before the big bang then e) would be correct. Alternatively if the universe is in a cycle of expanding and collapsing then the answer would be "there would be a different, smaller universe".

  5. What kind of screwed-up school do you go to?  This is some kind of ignorant Creationist question.

The Big Bang Theory is not a hypothesis---it is an exceptionally well-established theory that is supported by an enormous amount of data.

None of the answers are correct.  We know that we do not know anything about the causes of the Big Bang, and we do not know much of anything about conditions prior to the Big Bang.

But one thing we do know is that it is not necessary to supply material to the Big Bang in the form of a collapse of material from a prior Universe into a singularity..
