The Big I Am clinches victory in the 470m Grade A1 race
The Big I Am clinched victory in the 470 metres Grade A1 race at Belle Vue on Friday, January 27, 2012. He has been performing consistently well over the past few races, and won a cash prize of £106 with his victory.
The triumphant greyhound was not the favourite to win, but he was still pretty much impressive and might earn the confidence of the bookmakers next time around.
The Big I Am had a starting price of 7 to 2, and he completed the race distance in 28.71 seconds, after popping out from trap number one. He gained good momentum at the start and continued running hard from then onwards. This allowed him to leave the
rest of the pack behind in the end.
The P. W. Gregson trained dog is the son of Daves Mentor out of Shut The Door, and was born in April, 2009.
Second place went to, Darver Bo Bo, who also had a terrific run. He did not give up until the end, and kept on pressurising the eventual winner. However, he ended up being 0.04 seconds adrift of The Big I Am.
Darver Bo Bo, trained by J. B. Thompson, covered the race distance in 28.75 seconds, after breaking in from trap number four. He also had a starting price of 7 to 2, same as the race winner.
The runner up dog is the son of Brett Lee out of Priceless Pearl, and was born in September, 2009.
Third place was taken by B. Heaton’s trained b***h, Celseclo. She completed the race in 28.81 seconds, after going in from trap number five with a starting price of 4 to 1. Her speed was also impressive, but she seemed to have run out of gas in the
end.
Celseclo is the daughter of Killahan Phanter out of Bridie Knowsbest, and was born in March, 2009.
Westpoint Barney, trained by D. J. F. Hampson, completed the race in fourth, after popping out from trap number two. He had a starting price of 4 to 1, but was unable to make a significant impression.
The fourth placed hound was born in November, 2009, and is the son of Droopys Scolari out of Endova Rainbow.
The race favourite, His Own Business, and Brave Dawn completed the order of finish, taking fifth and sixth places, respectively.
Overall, the event was quite an exciting one, as the top four greyhounds battled hard against each other.
