The Biggest Surprises in the Premier League Season So Far
Titus Bramble: A couple of seasons ago Titus Bramble was by far one of the worst defenders in the League. He was at the butt of almost every joke regarding football. However the player recently earned a one million pound move to Sunderland.
Some predicted this to be the biggest mistake that Sunderland could have made. However a couple of weeks down the line the defender has gained back his earlier form and has gone from being one of the worst transfers to quite possibly being one of the best
transfers this season.
David Stockdale: English goal keepers have almost always been a cause of problems lately. However ever since the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup 2010, it seems as though the flood gates to the best keepers in the land have opened. The latest
keeper to earn a call up to the English national side is David Stockdale. The keeper has made a handful of appearances for Fulham this season but has been highly impressive so far. Some even believe that had Stockdale been fit earlier on Mark Hughes would
have allowed Mark Schwarzer to leave for Arsenal.
Ali Al-Habsi: Going into the season Ali Al-Habsi was the third choice keeper for Bolton. He was never expected to play a single game, however due to Chris Kirkland picking up some injuries the player was asked to move up a few spots and
keep for the team. He has only conceded one goal so far in the three games that he has played in. His best performance came against Tottenham when the player seemed to be in phenomenal form. He has managed to strengthen up Wigan’s really poor defensive form
by forming a solid wall in the goal.
Johan Elmander: Last season Johan Elmander scored a total of three league goals for Bolton. Most people expected the players career to be over already, however this season the player has managed to match his tally from last season, despite
the season kicking off only four weeks ago. If he manages to keep this form up, he will without a doubt become one of the best players at Bolton.
James Milner and Adam Johnson: James Milner and Adam Johnson are quite possibly some of the brightest prospects to come out of England over the past couple of years. However no one could have accurately guessed just how good the duo would
turn out to be. In January this year no one on earth could have predicted that a player from the Championship would join one of the richest teams in the world and become one of the best players on that squad.
The same goes for Milner, everyone expected him to perform rather poorly once he joined Manchester City, however that has not been the case. Both the players have been phenomenal. In fact they have been so remarkable that both the players have earned a spot
in the starting eleven for the English national side. If both of them can continue to perform at the same level that they have been performing at so far, then they could be the reason for City to break into the top four at the end of the season.
