  1. Too much for Ryder, he is a good player that may one day score 40 goals, wish him well but not at 4 million a year.

The real question for the habs is will they be ale to sign Sundin. If vancouver offered 10 Mil then there is no way they can match that

  2. They gave him an extra million of what he's worth but I guess it's a good move.

....*sniff*....I wanted the Rangers to get Ryder...

  3. I am officially heartbroken.. im gonna miss Ryder so much!

  4. thats a nice little shot of offense

  5. This move has Claude julien written all over it.

When julien was in Hamilton ( mtl's farm team) he resurrected Ryder's career after a couple of years of bouncing around in the ECHL.  Then when Julien got promoted to Mtl he brought Ryder with him.  If I am not mistaken Julien also coached him in junior at Hull.

If any one can get Ryder back on track it is Claude Julien, but 4 million for a guy that had fallen so far in Mtl that he was not dressed often....... seems to me they could have had him for less.  The salaries paid yesterday were brutal.  Lots of guys going to be burned.

  6. They're not going to get bumped around up from with Lucic and Wheeler and now Ryder. They'll be a tough team to compete with because they play an excellent modified trap. If Bergeron comes back healthy and Kessel can live up to some expectations (most of all Julian's) then this team could very well win the division and have a shot at the East.

  7. He had an off year last year. He has averaged a little bit above 50 points a season in 4 seasons.  In my own opinion, he is a solid 2nd line player.

  8. It's always a good move when a team gets the best player for the best price. Being a Pen's fan, I'm not sure that Hossa is worth the loot that teams are throwing at him. He put up the numbers he did only because the talent around him. If he is the key guy on a new team he won't produce half as much as he could with the Pens.

  9. solid signing....he never really lived up to expectations in Montreal, so maybe a change of scenery will do him good.

Hes a consistent 60 point player and relatively young (28 y/o).

Why do you think this puts to rest signing Hossa?

I still think Hossa will be a Bruin by this time tommorrow.

  10. At first I was questioning this deal, but after sitting back at the big picture, I can see where this was going.  Chirelli's blog said one superstar (guessing it was Hossa) was out of reach so they were playing the waiting game for another good young player (Ryder is 28).  He had a sub-par season last year, only 31 points in 70 games, but has scored over 30 goals twice in his 4 year career w/ the Habs.  Not only will this help us on the offensive attack, but his powerplay numbers are up.  He has 99 goals, with 46 of them coming when on the PP.  A big problem the Bruins have had is capitalizing on the man-advantage, so this will indeed help us out.  It also takes him away from Montreal (who also lost Mark Streit to the NYI).  They are in the bidding for Hossa and Sundin, but the Leafs are talking about being close to signing him to a Crosby / Malkin type deal.  As for Hossa, the team in front of that sweepstakes is Edmonton.  If Montreal is left without either, this could help us considerably.

I do think there is a possibility of other players coming to Boston, though I don't think it will be Hossa, where we only spent $4mil a year on Ryder.  A guy like Kristian Huselius, who will be 30 in November, has been in the league for 7 years, but still very productive.  He had 66 points last year and 77 the season before with Calgary.  Has had a great +/- in recent years which tends to show he can play defensively.  I'd really like the Bruins to go after someone like him and offer a similar contract like Ryder, maybe even a little more.  They need to buyout Murray in order to make room for him, but I'd like to see him in the Black and Gold when I go to the Garden next season.

  11. Good move along with you guys signing Blake Wheeler(Fu$$ing  traitor)  to an entry-level contract.

  12. I think they overpaid by a million or so, but its a good move. The signings of  both Wheeler and Ryder were solid. I did have hope for Hossa, although it all died today when I read Chiarelli's blog.
