The Buffalo Bills face Terrell Owens and the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday
The Buffalo Bills will look to add to their win total for the second straight week when they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals this Sunday. It will be Terrell Owens’ first game against his former team, and he’ll be out to prove that he didn’t ‘hit
a wall’ as was suggested by the Bills’ head coach, Chan Gailey, last season.
"No, T.O. doesn't hit any walls," said Owens. "Trust me, if there's any walls in front of me, I'm going to find a way to go through it, around it, or over it. There's no just hitting the wall. If I'm put in the right situation, I'm able to succeed and do
some of the things that people are seeing now that they feel is, I guess, eye-opening for my age."
Owens, who turns 37 on 7 December, joined Chad Ochocinco and the Bengals with high hopes this season, but the team has struggled and currently sits in last place in the AFC North with a 2-7 record.
Owens and Ochocinco are both having good seasons; for Owens it’s possibly his best in the NFL so far, but still the team has had difficulty scoring and preventing other teams from scoring on them. They’re 21st in the league in points for and 23rd
in points against. Both of those numbers are unacceptable for a team that wants to make the play-offs and has to share a division with the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bengals’ quarterback, Carson Palmer, is one of the reasons the team is not having success. Last week in a 23-17 loss against the Indianapolis Colts, he threw three interceptions. It’s the second time he’s thrown three picks in a game this season.
"I'm just frustrated at where we are right now," said Carson Palmer. "It's been a long time since we've won a game. It's been a long time since we've played well for four quarters, played well as a team. That's what's frustrating."
The Bills, who are 1-8, understand that frustration. They claimed their first victory of the season last week in Buffalo against the Detroit Lions in a 14-12 win. While it’s nice to finally earn a victory, the team knows it needs to build on that win.
"It's one win. It's not like some major milestone, you know," said Gailey. "It was a win. I'm looking for two."
The Bills will be without rookie running back C. J. Spiller and will look for Fred Jackson to lead the team on the ground. Last week, Jackson had 133 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns. He also had six receptions for 37 yards.
The Bills will also need to have a big game from their quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has a quarterback rating of 85.5 this season.
"I liked Fitz's demeanour. I liked his confidence. He has that type of, you know, swagger about him," said Owens. "I knew the guy could play all along. I'm not surprised by any means. He's doing a great job."
Both Owens and Fitzgerald are doing good jobs this year, but neither is on a team that’s winning. The good news is that only one of these teams can lose this game.
