The Camels plan on crossing threshold at PGA Jones Cup for victory
The PGA Golf Club is scheduled to hold its ninth PGA Jones Cup 2010 in Port St. Lucie from the 19th of October to the 20th of October. The event’s former champion is the Campbell University from last year, who won the tournament after the University of Idaho
in 2008.
The University from Buies Creek, N.C will be continuing its bid for the third title since the previous 4 years.
The Campbell University, also known as The Camels, is currently led by Ken Jones, who is the Director of PGA Golf Management University Program. Jones has been the director of the program since 1998 and said that he is highly excited about the match.
According to Jones, the Camels contain golfers that are consistent and hard working. The Director said that the line-up being brought forward to the Jones Cup 2010 will be striving for the best finish they can bring up.
The event is said to hold the toughest greens the golfers have experienced till now and Jones agrees with it. He said that what is now required by the players is how they read the greens. The golf course consists of Bermuda grass to give a rather tough time
to the players which may force them to record high scores.
The current event will host twenty teams that include teams like the Coastal Carolina University, The New Mexico State University and the Mississippi State University. The Camels in such a battle field has included one of its players of top form, Steven
Hamby. Hamby played at the 2009 event from the Camels side and carded an impressive 15 shot lead over the other players thus winning the title. The title was grabbed from Florida State University in 2009.
Ken Jones is currently very happy with the way the team has been performing. He said that the team has had a great record till now and their ability to perform well at almost all of the events has made it easier for him to coach. Jones said that the team
played a remarkable game last year and performed exceptionally well at the first round of the event.
The battlefield
The PGA Jones Cup scheduled to be played is named after the Dr. S. Roland Jones from the Mississippi State University. Dr. S. Roland Jones was the first person to perform his duties as the director at the PGA Golf Management University Program at Mississippi
State University. The position was held from the year 1985 till his passing in the year 1997. The event will be held at the PGA golf club for the third time.
This is a 36-hole tournament that includes 5 top players from each PGA Golf Management University Program.
The warriors
The golfers participating in the field are all ascribed by the PGA Golf Management University Program. The PGA of America thus backs up the program, which provides these young aspiring golfers a program ranging from 4 ½ years to 5 years and holds a rather
expansive curriculum.
The program offers player development, internship experience and extensive class rooms with a wide knowledge and skill necessary for a PGA professional.
The students enrolled in this program undergo an on the course internship related to the golfing industry ranging from 16 to 20 months. The students are further educated with several business related subjects as well as golf to instill in them all the compulsory
factors a professional needs to hold.
