The CashCall Futurity has reeled in 13 runners and they are all set to go
The Grade 1, $750,000 CashCall Futurity means so much to the 13 odd juvenile colts participating in the 1 1/16 mile test, it could definitely be a stepping stone toward their all important sophomore season and the road to Kentucky Derby.
Most of the connections of these colts will be mapping out the best trail for these runners which will lead toward the Triple Crown. These 13 promising colts and geldings will lock horns with each other on 17 December, 2011, to run over a distance of 1 1/16
miles for a purse of $750,000.
The juvenile runner, who will go on to miss the CashCall Futurity will be Team Valor International’s, Lucky Chappy, who got knocked out of the race because he came down with a fever.
Trainer Graham Motion opted not to ship his Breeders’ Cup tested colt to Hollywood Park, but the remaining cast is full of star studded names. Bob Baffert trained, Drill, will be among the protagonists for the race.
The Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity winning colt will be one of three from the barn of Bob Baffert. Trainer Peter Miller is not opting out of the Futurity after winning the 2010 edition with, Comma to the Top, and he is confident this year as well, as he sends
out Majestic City to represent him this year.
Majestic City gave Miller consecutive wins in two rich events, starting from Willard Protocol Memorial and Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile Championship.
“He’s being dismissed by a lot of people, but at their own peril,” said Miller of Majestic City.

The son of City Zip, out of mare It’schemistrybaby by Meadowlake, Majestic City returns to a track he loves as Miller noted, that the colt is 3 up at the Hollywood Park in as many starts. He only had one bad race when he threw it in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup
Juvenile Turf when he stopped after opening a big early lead.
“You can throw out his last race because of the soft turf,” said Miller. “He could have easily won the two races before that”. Miller pointed toward the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity and Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity.
