The Charles Lopresti trained Turallure’s season interrupted due to an injury
Connections seemed gravely concerned, as to why Turallure hasn’t been racing up to his true potential, and they have just found their answer. The grey horse has sustained an injury, which was confirmed by Charles Lopresti as he told the media that:
“I’ve been scratching my head about why he hasn’t run as well as we know he can,” said the trainer, he continued that veterinarian Dr. Larry Bramlage had taken “a bone scan, and sure enough he lit up in a lot of spots, including the ends of all his
cannon bones and his stifles.”
The performance that made the trainer slightly skeptical about his form was in the Grade 2 Firecracker Stakes at Churchill Downs on 1st July, 2012, where he finished fourth over the distance of a mile.
The test that was conducted on the son of Wando, foaled by mare Personal Allure, detected internal injuries. The trainer decided that it was time for the Donna Arnold owned runner to take a break from racing.
The trainer wants the five-year-old horse to take 60 days off, so he can recover from his injury, but he was glad that the injury was not worse. He stated that hopefully the 5-year-old will make a comeback as soon as he becomes better.
Lopresti said:
“He needs time to just take it easy and catch up. This definitely is not career-ending, and if we don’t have him back for something like the Shadwell Mile at Keeneland in the fall, hopefully we’ll have him back in top shape for the big grass races
next spring.”
The runner was in immensely good shape, and earned $1.35 million from his six victories in nineteen career starts.
The trainer had high hopes for Turallure, as going to Saratoga was on the agenda where he was bound to run in the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap on 11thAugust, 2012, to take on a distance of 1 1/16 miles, but now he will be taking some time
off.
It can be hoped that the runner makes a recovery and returns to the racetrack back to his winning form.
