The Chiefs signs Fritz Lee
Super 15 side The Chiefs has signed Fritz Lee on a two-year contract from Counties-Manukau.
The back-row player has represented New Zealand at Rugby Sevens level and says he is chomping at the bit to test his game in one of the best domestic leagues in global rugby.
"I'm pretty happy to be working with some of the top players in the rugby world and I'm looking forward to playing
within the Chiefs environment," he said.
Lee is a very strong and agile player who has plenty of quality that will ensure he is successful with The Chiefs. However, he has heavy competition for his place among
the squad in the club.
Skill and quality
Lee's biggest asset is his pace and agility. He is very quick across the turf in the middle of the pitch, which allows him to move between the defence and attack of the
team in no time at all.
He is a well built and very strong player, which is vital for any player playing in the back-row of a team. This helps him throw in last ditch tackles that are often the
difference between the opposition scoring and giving the ball away.
The Chiefs has a number of players that can play in the back-row of the team. The likes of Craig Clarke and Hikawera Elliot are very good in defensive positions and this
means Lee will have to fight for his place.
"We've been delighted with his growth over the last 2 years with Counties-Manukau.
He has previously been involved with our wider training programme and to see him progress and have a good campaign, with Counties-Manukau, is fantastic for us.
A sign of his form was the attention the Blues
put on him as they were willing to add to their already large stocks," said Chiefs head coach Ian Foster.
Betting advice
The Chiefs has a better chance of winning games when Lee is in the side. The Chiefs is lingering in 11th place in the Super 15 table so be wary of parting with a large
amount of money on the team to make the top four.
