The Colorado Rockies land Ty Wigginton for first base cover

The Baltimore Orioles made a necessary shift recently when they procured Mark Reynolds from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The side needed to add more power to the roster and one of the prevalent problems at the club was the record against the left hand pitchers
in the American League East. Now with the power set in, financial resources are being conserved through the sale of extra power in the dugout.
The Colorado Rockies were recently shell shocked by Manager Jim Tracy’s health woes. The gaffer collapsed in Florida, at the opening day of the winter meetings. However, as the gaffer has been recuperating well under care, the ball club has made progress
with the signing of Ty Wigginton from the Orioles. The player will provide cover for Todd Helton who has been ageing at the position for a long time. The dip in his performance will now be reinforced with Ty’s inclusion.
His former manager, Buck Showalter made an assessment on his former ball star. He said, "I think Ty is really staging his career, he really knows what he needs to bring and he's a winning player. He's good people, and I'm excited for them. I just wish him
the best because I hope every guy gets to have guys like 'Wiggy.' You know what you're going to get from Wiggy every day when he shows up, and he loves to play baseball. He's a good fit for anybody, not just Colorado."
The strong man who’s 33, brought forth a batting average of .248 in the previous season and the club will particularly benefit from the veteran who registered 76 RBIs (Runs Batted In) and smashed 22 home runs with the Orioles.
Orioles president of baseball operations, Andy McPhail recently said, "Wiggy did a nice job for us, and I was glad to see Wiggy get the deal he did, to be honest with you," "But I think once he saw us get the everyday third baseman and the potential of us
landing a different first baseman, the at-bats were going to be - in all likelihood, if he stayed healthy, the at-bats were going to be reduced."
Wigginton will add a new dimension to the Rockies line up and while many fans expect more signings to come forth in the coming days, the club has made a move in the right direction.
