The Coral Champions Night Hurdle Final's total prize money of £1600 won by trainer D Child’s Baltylum Houdini with
£600 to spare
The winner of the Coral Champions Night Hurdle Final, trainer D Childs' Baltylum Houdini, was also the purse winner of the Heats, held on the 31st of August, 2011, at Romford.
This time in the finale which was scheduled on the 7th of September, 2011, at the same venue, was a major achievement for Baltylum Houdini, defeating well known hounds who participated in the race as his contenders.
With an amazing pace from the initial stage of the race, the black hound, wearing black and white stripes with red number 6, railed through the track.
Even though the three-year-old hound got disputed as he chased the lure, he greased his elbows and raced as fast as he could to cover the 400 meter distance in 24.36 seconds
Giving a marvelous hit in the race, trainer D Childs' hound proved himself as a real go-getter.
R J Holloway’s brindle dog, Romeo In Miami, would have given Holloway a chance to celebrate if his starting pace was perfect.
Although the 7/1 favourite raced really well later on and boosted up his energy to give a hit, he managed to finish second by ½ length.
The four-year-old wearing red and white number 1, covered the required distance in 24.40 seconds.
Soviet Nailer was left behind by 1 ¼ lengths when Romeo In Miami reached the wire. The brindle dog, under trainer A B Gifkins' training, started his superb chase from trap 2.
Although the three-year-old railed fantastically, he also led the race for about 1 length, but he couldn’t get along and eventually finished third by covering the distance in 24.50 seconds.
Billis Renegade, the three-year-old hound, was a neck behind Soviet Nailer, tragically bumped into, 1 length in.
Trainer J T Foster’s fawn dog, wearing orange and black number 5, ran on till the end of the race with a high speed and finished fourth in 24.53 seconds.
Trainer J T Foster had another hound, Jamaican Man, who qualified for the final round but unluckily he also could not finish up with an impressive position.
The black dog railed from trap 3 and got bumped in quite badly during 1 whole length. The two-year-old finished fifth by 1 ½ length, in 24.65 seconds.
The third hound trained by J T Foster, Deplorably, finished sixth in the race by 3 ¾ lengths.
The black and white dog could not manage to jump high over the hurdles and was declared the last one to cross the wire in 24.95 seconds.
Out of £1600, Baltylum Houdini won the purse containing £1000, whereas second prize was £200 and rest of the contenders were given £100 each.
