  1. i loved how it was so deep and passionate, but you really have to read between the lines to figure that out. And I loved how it depicts characters, and how you aren't really sure what is going to happen next. I liked how Pearl had a mind of her own, even though she was a very small child and how hard her mother struggled.

In short, it is a book that had me wishing and hopping and thinking all the while I read it. I just enjoyed it.

  2. I liked John Proctor

  3. Oh goodness, I'm so in love with this play. I read it in eighth grade and then performed in it the year after, so needless to say I pretty much know the play by heart (and I'm STILL not bored of it!). I suppose what's so great is that it's timeless - the "with us or against us" notion is something that dates so far back and still exists today. Then there's just the character of John Proctor. His character is so complicated - he isn't the noblest of all men, but he's still *good* - and his speech at the end is so heart wrenching.

And raethrop, I think you're thinking of The Scarlet Letter.
