The curse of Manny was having Manny in the clubhouse when he didn't want to be there anymore, it was time for both sides to move on! Get over yourself and proclaiming the ability to grant curses. The Sox will not be cursed, because they now have an ownership that doesn't mind spending money, and the ability to evaluate talent and constantly restock the minor league system, all while bringing in key pieces to the major leage team through trades and free agency!

The true curse of Manny may occur if Hanky Steinbrenner is stupid enough to give Manny $20 million a year to play for him!

Hey Johnny de: Manny got to Boston in 2001, and they didn't win a W.S. until 2004, I would have to say Curt Schilling-who came in '04, and Josh Beckett-who came in '06 had more to do with those championships than Manny. You see my friend, pitching has more to do with winning in the post-season than hitting, something the Yankmees don't have right now!!!

All I know is they hadn't won a world series since what the civil war, then Manny comes and bam 2 world cahmpoinships, guys got how many career rbis over 500 hrs and counting, leads in all all all playoff batting categories, and rather than keep him happy the bosox let him go.  Of course they're the Bosox that's what they do.

No matter how it looks right now they will not make the playoffs this year, in fact it'll be 80 or 90 years, then they'll get rid of the guy that got them there; it's what they do, part of their charm.  Yet, they'd keep somebody like Yaz around forever.

One man made a difference for the bosox and now he's doing it of the dodgers.

It's the stupidest move I ever heard of short of getting rid of Babe Ruth.

lol... this SEASON is gonna be rough... but the Red Sox will fix it all in the off season.  Hopefully Jason Bay will go on a tear here so they can trade him with Lugo for something good.  

But no way are the Red Sox toast for years to come... have you seen their minor league pitching?  Plus they have Dusty locked up and Pap and Beck and Dice and Lester... Papi, Lowell, Drew...

To me, it was still a questionable trade, but I don't believe in curses. Unfortunately, the Red Sox will still be contenders for the next few years.

The only time there is a curse is when you believe it.  My boys are over that now.  Bay will fill in quite nicely.

Give me a break. It's funny that people still believe in curses on baseball teams. I'm going to laugh at you when the Bosox win the series. If not this year maybe the next. They have a good team.

Teixeira to the Angels, Bay to the Red Sox, Santana to the Mets, Cabrera to the Tigers, and it goes on-and-on.  One player does not make a team and the Red Sox are committed to winning which is what they will do with or without Manny.  By the way, in 20-30 years no one is going to remember your question and statements.  In fact, very few will remember this question as early as next week.
