  1. its dc comics not marvel. its really easy to understand without even knowing anything before the movie.

  2. One more thing...!!!

Please, promise me this- That you'll see it in IMAX.

After the IMAX experience with the Dark Knight, you'll never ever want to see a non-IMAX movie ever again...!!!

  3. Batman is not a character from Marvel Comics, most of who were created in the sixties and later; Batman was created in 1939 and the publishing company that first presented Batman to the world is now known as "DC Comics."

There has been more than one version of Batman, since he has such a long history, but basically he is always a man who trained himself to fight crime because he witnessed his parents killed by a criminal when he was a small boy. He wears a bat costume because he thinks criminals are "superstitious and cowardly" and will be "terrified" by someone who looks like "a weird creature of the night." He is a very wealthy man, having inherited great wealth and has a college degree in criminology (now known as "police science") with minors in acting, chemistry, and business. He operates out of a "batcave" under his ancesteral home, and his only confidant is Alfred, who is his butler and who was the butler for his father. Batman has a number of "bat-vehicles" and is friends, of sort, with James Gordon who is one of the few honest cops on the Gotham city police force.

That's about all you need to know going into the movie.

  4. First just to let you know Batman is a BC Comics character.

Bruce Wayne had his parents murdered in an alley in front of him. He is scared of bats and comes from a rich family. In the first movie Batman Begins which I very highly recommend you see before The Dark Knight his mansion gets burned down by a man called Ra's Al Gaul (the villain in Batman Begins) who trained him to fight and he befriends a police lieutenant named James Gordon, also has a friend named Rachael Dawes (Bruce loves her). Bruce Wayne became Batman to fight of crime in Gotham city. In The Dark Knight a criminal mastermind known as The Joker(Batman's arch enemy) is the villain in this one. Now Batman must once again save Gotham City from its overpowering crime.

The movie is great! I'm a Batman fan so I know alot about Batman and people who know nothing about Batman saw this movie and understood it just fine and loved it, so don't worry!!! Enjoy!

  5. DC comics, not Marvel.

You should watch Batman Begins, first. Trust me, it's worth it.

  6. Batman protects Gotham City and like Rachel Dawes. The Joker is Batman's archenemy. I would also recommend you to watch Batman Begins.

  7. I didn't like it too much...

I mean Heath Ledger is aweesome! and the joker parts are fab!

    But it drags a bit....

    But basic outline?

Batman is trying to protect the city from the Joker, who is working with a team of mobsters and killing people. He is also trying to protect Rachel.

  8. You dont need to be a ccomic book fan. Just watch Batman Begins and thats it

  9. Marvel characters of Gotham City? Zero, none, 0.

DC comics characters of Gotham City?

Batman - also known as the black knight.

    The Joker - his nemesis

Harvey Dent / TwoFace - former Gotham DA, later scarred faced mad villian

For the rest just watch Batman Begins which is the first film in this series.

For more information about Batman and their characters check Wikipedia or a DC comics website.  "Batman on Film" is an excellent source of data, and discusses the movies available on the character. So be carefull browsing there so you read about the previous movies and not spoilers for The Dark Knight.

  10. as far as I know you dont need to know anything that happened before the film.

  11. nothing you need to know except.............in the beginning keep in mind the long haired guy is the joker.

also......you dont need to be a comic fan, and i didnt even see Batman Begins before seeing this.  i saw it after, and understoof completely.

have fun, its a great movie

  12. There is no substitute for watching Batman Begins. Take a couple of hours, it's well worth it and you'll enjoy The Dark Knight far more, I think.

  13. The city of Gotham is in the middle of restoring order to their town after being overrun by the mob and has a brand-spanking-new District Attorney by the name of Harvey Dent.  Dent has been cleaning up the streets by prosecuting tons of criminals and putting them behind bars, which has been instilling hope in the citizens that they can take their city back.

The Joker, who prefers chaos and anarchy over order and democracy, manipulates the mob into taking orders from him and he wreaks all types of havoc on the city of Gotham.

Batman, Lieutenant Gordon and Harvey Dent join forces as the city's best chance of thwarting the Joker's efforts to keep their town in a slump.  Can they do it?  We'll you'll just have to watch The Dark Knight!  In theaters NOW!!!

There's the basic plot, spoiler free.

    HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
